National Register of Historic Places - Other larger scale industrial buildings are situated at the west boundary of the Historic District.The National Linen Service (1941) at 2400 Hampton Boulevard, Nolde Brothers Inc. (1940) at 2500 Hampton Boulevard and Sanitary Linen Service (1928) at 2514 Hampton Boulevard date to the period between 1928 and 1941. National Linen Service features Art Deco details such as a rounded corner and glass block windows. Sanitary Linen Service is much more simplified exemplifying the utilitarian-style of industrial building construction. Nolde Brothers Inc. features Art Deco details such as a pavilioned entrance, circular windows, glazed brick veneer, and applied stone veneer. The most striking features on this building are the company’s name, “NOLDE BROTHERS INC”, constructed in glazed brick and resting atop the façade parapet and south elevation parapet walls, which fronts the streets. |
